Help us test Cafe Workplace

Work on your laptop for up to 2 hours in a café that wants you there, for the price of a coffee. Free while we test.

The test runs at App Review Cafe and Hobson Rosebud. Install the app (about 2 minutes), then check in next time you’re there and tell us how it went.

Install Apple’s free TestFlight app (it’s how Apple shares apps before they’re in the App Store).

Open our test link on your iPhone and tap Accept, then Install.

Use one Google account for everything: the one your Play Store uses (open Play Store, tap your photo, top right, to see which).

Open this in Chrome and tap Join group. Can’t see the button? Tap Chrome’s ⋮ menu, tick Desktop site, and it appears.

Join the testers

Google takes a few minutes to add you: a good moment to order your coffee.

Then tap this, tap Become a tester, then Download it on Google Play and install as normal. Says you don’t have permission, or won’t let you pick your account? Wait a minute, then open the link in a Chrome Incognito tab (⋮ → New Incognito tab) and sign in with your Play Store account there.

Please keep the app installed for 14 days: Google needs that before the app can go public.

Then, at the café

  1. Open the app and sign up (it’s free).
  2. Scan the bamboo card at the counter to check in.
  3. Buy something, settle in, and show your pass if staff ask.
  4. Tell us what you think: Me → Help and contact in the app.
